I received the above message on Tuesday 19th April 2011, together with a loss of my desktop which is now black. Is this a genuine message from Microsoft? Looking at the web there would appear to be a large number of users of Windows & having the same symtems. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, replacing Vista Home Premium around 16th October of 2010. At that time I was asked for the Product Key of the Software for validation purposes and entered this. I then received a message from Microsoft stating the product had been validated. I took this to mean that the Soft ware had been checked as genuine ? I believe that this copy of Windows 7 was purchased from Amazon. I cannot be absolutely sure as I have two machines both running with their own separate copies of Windows 7 Ultimate. The other machine is not showing problems with windows 7 Ultimate. Why have I recieved this message months after installing the program, and after receiving many updates for it? Please help Thank you.

As a workaround, you can use “slmgr -rearm” to reset the status of activation. Notice that, “slmgr -rearm” only can be use three times.
